SPCast development

SP: Sven General news 2 Comments

SPCast will be a new all-in-one solution. With SPCast, in the future we will unify the management of all products in web radio into a single environment.

When we started in 2013, we were the first in Europe to offer all products without contract periods. Today, in 2022, this is the standard for most providers.

After almost 10 years, we have learned a lot and received a lot of feedback. With SPCast we would like to try again to change something for the better. With SPCast the webradio standard will be raised to 320 Kbit/s at least at STREAMPANEL. In addition to the new standard bitrate the ports of the webradios will be dropped completely. In the future, sending and listening to the stations will work like browsing the web via the standard ports (80 - HTTP) and (443 - HTTPs).

Our current plan already calls for a slow rollout later this year.

The changelog is now available here: https://www.streampanel.net/changelog/spcast/
Ideas and suggestions can be submitted by ticket or here: https://www.streampanel.net/user-feedback/sp-cast/

Currently we are also looking for 3 web radio operators who have the time and will to test the new product with us. As a tester, you must necessarily switch on the new platform and may not currently reach more than 100 simultaneous listeners. The operation of the stations is already largely ensured. Some of the functions you are used to will of course still be missing.

If all this doesn't bother you and you have a lot of patience, you can contact us via support ticket. Of course, we will show our appreciation to all testers at the end of the test phase.
